A Quick Guide to Google Ads

So, you’ve got your website up and running, you have registered your business with Google My Business and Google Search Console, you’ve installed Google Analytics on your website. You're getting lots of visitors and business is going great! But you want more, you want to grow even further! Well it’s time to start looking at Google Ads!

Google Ads are those results that appear at the top or bottom of each results page which are related to your search. There’s usually three or four results per page and are identified as “ad” before the link.

Google is the single most used search engine in the world, with over 75% of worldwide searches! They process over 70,000 searches per second! With Google having such a huge market share, it means that using Google search as a platform for your marketing campaigns is one of the most effective ways to get your business seen online.

It works differently to the standard CPI (cost per impression) models we’re used to seeing, Google Ads use a “Cost Per Result” model. Which means you don’t pay a penny unless someone clicks on your ad. This way this allows your return on investment (ROI) to be huge!

When people search on Google, they are searching for something specific, so we already know that they are potentially interested in clicking/subscribing or buying a product or service before we even show the ad, that's why Google Ads are so powerful!

It doesn’t matter if your business is purely online or operates as a brick and mortar store or service. Google has created pre-determined strategies to ensure you get the best results for your campaigns.

Creating a Google Ad is easy, they walk you through the whole process, all you really need to provide is some keywords known as “Adwords” and search terms so that Google knows where and who to show your ad to.

Google Adwords are phrases and keywords that people use when searching. If you are running an ad with that same keyword, then that user will see your ad. It allows those small local businesses to get to the top of the search results overnight, rather than spending months and even years perfecting their SEO. although this shouldn’t be overlooked by any means.

Google loves big brands, big brands attract the most users. But if you pay to promote your business to the top of the search results, the same customers who are searching for those big brands, will see your business, above those big brands!

Google Adwords is a huge multi billion dollar industry, with over 95% of Google's entire revenue coming from Google Ads. so businesses really spend some money on this because they know the huge returns it brings. But don’t worry if you're a small local business, you haven't been left behind.Google will give you an insight to how much daily spend your competitors are spending to give you a good opportunity to get ahead of your competitors.

Once you start running your ads, Google will also give you an insight into the most profitable keywords related to your existing ads and business activities, allowing you to further grow and scale your marketing campaigns and multiply your investment!

However, there are so many common mistakes that people make when it comes to Google Ads. More of this in the next post.
