Being seen on Google should be the single most important objective for any businesses marketing strategy. It has become normal for consumers to search online and “google it” to coin the common phrase, before they buy, Especially now, with the current restrictions resulting in more people shopping online.
Reaching the top of the search results on Google is no mean feat. Google has to be able to “trust” you before it promotes your website to the top of the search results. This process can be quite complex.
When you create a website, whether it's bespoke through a professional developer, or an online website creator, (more info on these can be found here) you will be able to provide information known as SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) this comes in the form of, keywords, phrases, titles, and other snippets of information you can provide that allows search engines like Google access this data, and use it to show your site in their search results. SEO can be quite complex and can take time to optimise, once you fill your SEO data in, it won’t just happen overnight, it will take a good amount of time before the search engines collect enough data to be able to trust your site at the top of the search results. Other ways to make sure you are seen on Google is by registering your business with Google Search Console and Google My Business.
Once you have registered on Google Search Console you will be able to access a range of useful data and information like how many times users have clicked through to your site and what keywords were used to search for your site. All useful information you can use if you want to promote your site further.
Google has developed a tool called Google My Business, this allows you to register and verify your business with google and access a range of tools to help you get found on Google. This allows you to fill in details like your business name, area of business, address, contact details and website links, and it will create a digital business card that is shown across all of Google's platforms, for example, if you include your business address, it will be shown on Google Maps. Filling in these details goes a long way in creating that trust Google needs to be able to show you online.
Finally, another way to make sure your business is seen online is to utilise social media. Make sure your social media is constantly updated with reliable information relating to your businesses day to day activities, Search engines will show your branded social media pages alongside your main website pages within the search results. Therefore increasing your exposure to potential customers who are searching for your products or services.
